Make Films Not Piracy
According to the BBC, the organisers of the Cannes Film Festival have announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is to be shown out of competition at this year’s edition of the world famous film festival.
Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, is joined by Penelope Cruz in the fourth instalment of this enormously successful Disney franchise.
In the new film Captain Jack Sparrow is on the trail of the fountain of youth and comes up against the feared Blackbeard, played by British actor Ian McShane.
The previous Pirates of the Caribbean, At World’s End, earned more than $960 million in box office revenues during 2007 alone — a far greater sum than Captain Sparrow’s real life Somali counterparts, however, the Maritime Security Review is reliably informed that up-front investments were far more onerous!
The festival runs from 11 to 22 May
