There have been concerns voiced that the new, more “muscular approach” being taken by Indian Navy’s could drive pirates over to the Malacca Straits.

Since Naval forces first arrived, pirates many pirate action groups head to waters that are less patrolled.

Only the “amateurish short-range opportunistic pirates” have been deterred, the more professional pirates, have just looked to operate elsewhere.

There is a danger that we are simply spreading the disease rather than curing it.
