Lake Pirates
“Pirates” have been causing problems for local fishermen on Lake Victoria.
Maritime safety and security officers have briefed East Africa police chiefs in Tanzania, on the problems.
In a call for action local authorities are urging police to begin patrolling the fishing waters to keep piracy at bay. He warned that the lax approach by law-enforcement agencies was creating an advantage for pirates on the Lake which is the second largest freshwater lake on Earth.
