Tanker Taken
The problem of piracy off West Africa has blown dramatically back into the headlines once again this week.
In the latest attacks heavily armed pirates seized a chemical tanker as it was engaged in a ship-to-ship transfer.
The coordinated attack targeted two vessels off the coast of Benin, the 45,999-dwt “Mattheos I” (built 2004) and the 83,600-dwt chemical tanker “Northern Bell” (built 1990).
