Drill Attack

Somali pirates have targeted a new Ocean Rig drillship off Tanzania.

Seven pirates in a skiff armed with weapons launched an attack on the Petrobras operated 96,000-dwt “Poseidon” (built 2011) on Tuesday but were repelled by security personnel on board as well as local forces.

According to Reuters, following a gun battle the Tanzanian navy eventually managed to capture and take the pirates into custody.
