Failure to achieve a sufficient level of protection and eventually ending up being hijacked, will have devastating effects on the ship’s crew and will also have grave consequences for the ship owner. Thus, there is every reason to take the threat from pirates very seriously throughout the organisation, from the junior managers to the executive management.
Based on the latest information, experiences and available guidance, BIMCO will launch a free anti-piracy webinar exclusively for members on 27 April which will take the audience through the fundamentals of company and ship preparations and execution of operations in the High Risk Area. Chaired by BIMCO Maritime Security Officer Cdr. Jakob P. Larsen, this webinar will discuss the implications of shipping operations inside the High Risk Area and will also offer the opportunity for participants to share knowledge and thoughts, and to ask questions of relevance to anti-piracy.
The target audience is junior and mid-level staff from ship owning companies operating in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the wider Northwestern Indian Ocean. Senior staff may find the Webinar of interest too as part of their more general management functions.
