Controlling the Straights
A top Iranian Commander has stated that it would be against common sense for the Islamic Republic to close the Straight of Hormuz.
Iran not to give up control over Hormuz Straight
Iran would never give up its control over the strategic Straight of Hormuz, Deputy Navy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said Sunday evening in this southern provincial capital city.
Speaking in a fast-breaking ceremony here, the commander said although enemies claim that Iran is determined to close the strait, it is against common sense that the Islamic Republic closes the straight while it is using the waterway.
“We are present in this waterway anyway and if we can not use it, we will allow no one else to do so,” Tangsiri said.
He added that the Straight of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf have become more secure since they have been under the control of the IRGC’s naval forces.
According to Tangsiri West and the US, in particular, are fuelling their Irano-phobia project just because they are to sell more weapons to the regional states.
