Israel Asks UN to Stop Gaza Bound Ship
On Tuesday, Israel’s UN ambassador asked the world body to try to convince a Swedish ship carrying rights’ activists not to try to break the Jewish state’s barricade of the Gaza Strip.
Israel’s ambassador, Ron Prosor, called on the State-General, the Security Council, and all responsible members of the international community and asked them to take immediate action to end the provocation of the ‘Estelle’ vessel.
Prosor said the sailing ship, which left the Italian port of Naples on Saturday, was anticipated to arrive near Gaza in about a week. He added that the blockade was solely for security purposes.
Prosor went on to stress that Israel is not interested in confrontation, but will remain determined to enforce its naval blockade of the Gaza Strip and will take lawful action if necessary against the rights activists aboard the Estelle.
