Al Jazeera gains rare access to Somaliland prison where UN is trying to rehabilitate 40 pirates. But authorities say it may be easier to capture pirates out at sea than it is to work out what to do with them on land.
Rehabilitating Pirates Poses Challenge
Around 40 convicted pirates are detained in a Somaliland prison, where the UN is trying to rehabilitate them.
In 2012, more than 100 attempted hijackings were successfully stopped and dozens of pirates were captured.
But authorities say it may be easier to capture pirates out at sea than it is to work out what to do with them on land.
