Announcement made September 28, 2013 by Neak Media, LLC
On September 28, 2013, Homeland Security Outlook (HSO) announced the launch of the Maritime Security 2013 Caribbean conference website, http://www.maritimesecurity2013.com/carib. Maritime Security 2013 Caribbean will be an event incorporating presentations and workshops designed to address the challenges, successes, and solutions of securing the maritime domain in the Caribbean region.
Every day, tens of thousands of visitors flock to islands’ resorts and beaches from airlines, cruise ships and pleasure yachts. The same beautiful pristine waters and coastlines used by tourists are exploited for criminal use, among them being go-fasts and trawlers transporting concealed cargoes of illegal drugs and humans. Maritime Security 2013 Caribbean is the step forward to help resolve these and other issues. Topics of discussion include assessing security capabilities, information sharing platforms and best practices, engaging non-traditional stakeholders, and law enforcement response training.
Sareth Neak, President and Founder of HSO, described the need for this conference by saying, “Law enforcement in the United States shares many challenges with its Caribbean counterparts. However, agencies in United States are learning the power of networking, information sharing, and asset coordination. We hope to share these principles with Caribbean law enforcement and government personnel to develop a comprehensive maritime security strategy.” In an endorsement letter to HSO, His Excellency Ric Todd, Governor of the Turks & Caicos Islands, stated, “I do hope that those with a keen interest in maritime security in the region will seize this opportunity to take part in this event and discuss how we can make a positive move towards mitigating the security threats posed in this area.”
Maritime Security 2013 Caribbean will be held on November 5-6, 2013 in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands. Conference registration and sponsorship opportunities for Maritime Security 2013 Caribbean is open. Complete agenda, venue, and registration information is available at http://www.maritimesecurity2013.com/carib.
