CMF Commanders and Force Generation Conference set for December
Representatives from all Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) contributing nations are set to gather for discussions on the organisation’s latest achievements and future plans at the upcoming Commanders and Force Generation Conference (CFGC) in Bahrain.
Vice Admiral John W. Miller, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces and Commodore Keith Blount Royal Navy, United Kingdom Maritime Component Commander and Deputy Commander, Combined Maritime Forces will host the event in Manama on 04 December.
The conference will provide an opportunity for the CMF and individual Combined Task Force (CTF) Commanders to demonstrate their achievements during the six months since the previous CFGC.
Talks will additionally focus on CMF’s strategic future and operational direction in the coming years. Member nations will also have the opportunity to confirm their asset and personnel contribution to the mission.
Commodore Keith Blount, Royal Navy, Commander United Kingdom Maritime Component Commander and Deputy Commander, Combined Maritime Forces, said: “This is an important event that not only underlines the huge success and progress of CMF over the last 12 years, but will also set it on a path ton continue its great work in the future.”
CFGC event organizer, Commander Perry Stowell, UK Royal Navy, said: “CMF operations are integral to the maritime security picture in this region. We have successfully suppressed pirate activity and taken a large amount of illicit narcotics out of circulation, helping to stem the flow of funds to terrorist organizations and criminal gangs.
“The conference is a chance to show member nations what we’ve achieved and we look to them to continue to support our valuable work in future years.”
Captain Robert Slaven, Royal Australian Navy, Chief of Operations for CMF, said: “This is a chance to explain and demonstrate our performance to members and it’s also a forum for feedback. I’m looking forward to some interesting discussions and would ask nations to continue to generously support our force generation efforts.”
The full day of presentations and discussions will be preceded by an evening reception for delegates at the Gulf Hotel.
