Bounty placed on Sewol owner and son
South Korean police are offering a KRW80M ($77,808) reward to anyone who can offer information on the whereabouts of the Sewol ferry owner and his son, as the two men continue to give authorities the slip.
The police said today the reward is KRW50M for Yoo Byung Eun, who owns Chonghaejin Marine, and KRW30M for his eldest son Dae Gyun. They are wanted for their involvement in the 16 April capsize of Sewol, in addition to allegations of embezzlement, dereliction and tax evasion. Of the 476 passengers and crew, 304 are believed to have died.
So far, 287 bodies have been recovered while 17 remain missing. The latest development comes after prosecutors failed to locate Yoo and his son after an eight-hour search of the premises of Gu Won Pa (Salvation Sect) in Geumsuwon in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province.
