Italian marine suffers brain stroke, seeks SC nod to go home for four months
NEW DELHI: Massimiliano Latorre, one of the Italian marines accused of killing two fishermen off the Kerala coast, on Monday sought the Supreme Court’s permission to go home for four months for treatment of a brain stroke he suffered last week and to recuperate with his family.
Latorre and Salvatore Girone were accused of killing two fishermen in February 2012 while on anti-piracy guard duty aboard ship Enrica Lexie. The SC had brought them to Delhi and asked the Centre to set up a special court for their trial, which is yet to be constituted.
