The security situation along the West coast, including Karnataka, is fragile. There is a need to strengthen maritime security, Inspector-General S.P.S. Basra, Commander, Indian Coast Guards Region (West), has said.
Talking to presspersons after a ceremony to commission two Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) at Panambur here on Monday, Mr. Basra said that recent terrorist activities in the country have kept the Coast Guards on its toes.
“The security situation is fragile,” Mr. Basra said and added that there was a need for better coordination and response from the security agencies for information on groups indulging in antinational activities along the coast.
