Family Attacked On Pleasure Boat in Panama; 1 Killed, 2 Injured. Suspects Arrested.
May 02: A family of three on board an anchored pleasure boat sent out a distress call after three persons boarded their boat, shot and killed one person, and injured the other two. The attack occurred while the vessel was docked in Guna Yala, a cluster of islands off Panama’s Caribbean Coast (approx. 1.9nm ENE of San Ignacio De Tupile.)
Panamanian authorities dispatched a patrol boat to render assistance, and by May 05 three suspects were arrested, two of which were charged with aggravated homicide, robbery, criminal association, and mistreatment of a minor. The third suspect involved was a minor.
