Narcotics Worth $90m USD Seized in Panama in Container From Cuba
May 18: On Saturday, May 18, Panamanian authorities seized unspecified narcotics estimated to be worth $90m USD from a container at Puerto de Cristóbal, Colon. The container was marked as containing sacks of coal, and had been shipped from Cuba, but contained 46 bags of 1,517 packets of narcotics concealed in 46 black duffle bags. The shipment was scheduled to next ship to Turkey via Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
So far in 2019, Panama’s Servicio Nacional Aeronaval have confiscated 12,853 packages of illicit substances, and seized 14 vessels and 33 suspects.
