Robbery Aboard LNG Tanker at Callao Anchorage, Peru

May 18: At approx. 05:55 UTC approx. 4-5 unauthorized personnel wearing face masks reportedly boarded an anchored LNG tanker via the hawsepipe at Callao Anchorage. They temporarily took the duty CM hostage, at which point the alarm was raised, ship’s whistle sounded, and the remaining crew mustered. Upon hearing the alarm, the unauthorized persons reportedly took the CM’s radio, pushed him, and disembarked back to their boat. Incident was reported to Port Control and a patrol boat was dispatched to the anchorage area.
