Suspicious Approach of Tanker at Douala Inner Anchorage, Cameroon

January 15: An unspecified tanker anchored in Cameroon’s Douala inner anchorage was approached by a suspicious vessel (red hull) containing four persons. The vessel approached the tanker’s starboard side amidships but appeared to change course towards the stern of the tanker upon seeing onboard security guard.

Vessel continued approach, ignoring security guard’s indications to stop, at which point the guard fired a warning shot, which resulted in the approaching vessel to abort approach. Cameroon navy informed. Vessel and all crew reported safe.
